Career History
Having qualified at Newcastle Dental School I held house jobs
there in paediatric dentistry, oral surgery and restorative dentistry.
Following this I completed posts in maxillofacial surgery in the
Midlands, oral surgery in Glasgow and I also worked in a Community
Dental Practice in Australia. My orthodontic training was undertaken
in Leeds and Bradford and then I was appointed as senior registrar
in Manchester.
Current Post
Consultant Orthodontist at St Luke's Hospital, Bradford and Airedale
General Hospital, Keighley.
Consultant and Honorary Clinical Lecturer, Leeds Dental Institute
Clinical Interests
My clinical interests include treatment of patients with severe
malocclusions, and those who require interdisciplinary care. This
includes patients with cleft lip and palate, and those patients
who require a combination of orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery
or restorative dentistry.
Additional Interests
I am committed to high quality postgraduate training and continual
professional education in orthodontics.
My Masters degree was based on orthodontic bonding and I have
research interests in orthodontic retention. I am involved with
the Cochrane Collaboration, an international group that aims to
prepare, maintain and ensure accessibility of systematic reviews
of the effects of health care interventions.
I am a member of the British Orthodontic Society Development and
Standards Committee.
